Project Overview

In this project we seek to get a more precise understanding of how industries evolve. This research will be of value to those who seek to create or exploit industry change, and it will also shed light on how industries are born.

We are exploring:

• The lifecycle stages of industries
• Patterns of change (e.g. decentralization)
• Industry topology (using layers and graphs)
• Where value is captured
• Forces acting on industries (external and internal)
  

Approach:

We have developed two meta-models for industry topologies — value stacks and value graphs, and they have been in practical use in our workshops since 2017.  We are now seeking to find ways to populate models in a more scalable way.
